He’s a tenacious toddler with a ton of energy, teeth to gnaw on my flesh with and a stubborn, yet brilliant personality emerging. He’ll be two years old next month, but he’s already the size of a four year old. Because he’s so tall for his age, I have some unique challenges other parents might not have at this point. He can reach all the light switches and unlock the front door. This is a major problem, as you might imagine. His relentless curiosity to tear apart virtually anything with wheels to see how it’s built is another challenge we’re facing. But I welcome each day and all of its new challenges with love and gratitude. I was never the sort of girl who dreamed of getting married and becoming a mother. I wasn’t even completely sure motherhood was something I was into but the older I got, the clock ticked on and my battle with endometriosis didn’t make things any easier. So here I am…scars and all feeling stressed yet blessed and completely thankful I am finally a mama. I decided to start this blog to chronicle my life and the little lessons I’m learning along the way to let other mothers out there know…you’re not alone. I have been that mama cringing in church and internally begging God to help shut my kid up in the middle of mass. I am the mother who has worked a full week and wants to kick back for a relaxing meal in a restaurant and pleading with her son to stop screaming and watch Netflix on her iPhone so she could enjoy some tapas in peace. I am trying my best. Some days, I’ll admit, I want to throw the mom towel in. But then there are these perfect moments in between where my boy will smile at me for no reason and then I remember, we’re all works in progress and in the wise words of Bob Marley, “Every little thing is gonna be alright.”
