2018 was a strange year for many of us. While it had its challenges like many years often do, it was also a rewarding year. My son Patrick Thaddeus was born on July 2, 2018 after a rollercoaster ride of a pregnancy. On Dec. 19, 2018, I got to see Hamilton at Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale. The show has received more hype than a Kardashian product launch and the show is truly all that with a big of chips and a revolutionary pickle on the side.

It turns out Alexander Hamilton, as a character, is a lot more relatable to modern times than anyone expected. Born out of wedlock and orphaned as a child, he was taken in by a prosperous merchant and headed to New York in 1776 to continue his education. Hamilton, the musical, chronicles his life through music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Blending hip-hop, rap and R&B with traditional theater music sets the stage for a compelling, nonstop journey that “passionately smashes every expectation” and inspires audiences to rise up and asks the question: Who tells your story?

There are many parts of the show where it’s difficult not to rap and and sing along. I mean, we’ve all been listening to the Hamilton soundtrack for months, right?

Joseph Morales dazzles as Alexander Hamilton in this touring production of the show. Check out my dear friend Rod Hagwood’s awesome timeline review of the show here.

The Hamilton merch is also a must-stop-shop.

Hamilton merch!

I had to have this Hamil-tee from the show!

If you still haven’t snagged tickets to Hamilton, take your shot at entering the Hamilton lottery for free daily by downloading the Hamilton app. You do not want to miss this show. While it was the best thing to happen to 2018, it could be an epic start to 2019! Happy New Year! And how lucky we are to be alive right now!

Hanging out in the lobby with our dear friends Rod and Gary at Hamilton!
Hamtil TONS of fun with Rod and Gary!
